23 and Already Middle Aged!

As I posted yesterday me and my girlfriend, Lucy planned to have a good night out watching a few live bands. When I got halfway to her house I received a phone call off her;

Me:        Hello Marshmallow (my pet name for her... try not to puke)
Lucy:      Hi, is it OK if we don't go out tonight?
Me:        (in a disappointed tone) Yeah, I suppose. Why though?
Lucy:      Its been a hard day at Uni and I'm too tired to move.
Me:        OK, shall I pick up anything while I'm on my way?
Lucy:      Ooo, a couple of bottles of wine would be good.
Me:        Right, I'll get on it. See ya soon.

At this point I shaklacky'ed (tenacious D saying) the phone on her, moved on to the nearest supermarket and bought the wine.

I got to hers, did all the usual "hows your day been etc" and we slumped in front of the TV. Before I knew it I was sat watching 'Relocation Relocation', a property programme with a glass of wine in my hand. Now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there something a little off with the fact a 23 year old would be doing this when he should be out getting up to all sorts of mischief and shenanigans?!!

I fear I'll be having a mid-life crisis this time next Tuesday is things carry on. I'm seeing her tomorrow which is on a weekend. If any of this bullshit happens again I'm just going to take out my penis and tacklewhack her across the face to snap us both out of this madness!

  1. I've been going through something similar with my SO. Best thing to do is to drag her out of the house to something you'll both enjoy, regardless of if she says she is tired.

She'll get into the swing of it, and forget all about the exhaustion.

  2. On the upside, mid-life crisis means sports car.

  3. It's not a bad thing. Heck, I started enjoying watching home improvement shows and weather stations when I was 11. However, if it's not something you enjoy, it's best to talk with her about it or try to push for a middle ground.

  4. Its not so bad, it really depends on the person yo. Like me, i was made for concerts XD rather than universities and formal type deals.

  5. It doesn't sound so bad. If it just keeps happening, talk to her about it.

  6. Lol. Oh boy. The most important thing is that you were happy and content with the moment. Were you bored or unhappy while sitting there with her and you glass of wine? To me, it speaks greatly about ones relationship when you can just SIT AND RELAX with your spouse, yet be completely content and happy with it.

  7. Its cool. I'm 18 and I'm pretty sure I'm middle aged. A typical saturday night is spending quality time at the book store reading psychology, mechanics and cooking magazines, dinner in, and watching Extreme Couponing on TLC. That show is intense. My joint s hurt like no other. I'm okay with all of this though.

  8. Every now and then, that's fine. But yes, do you not get into a pattern of that. Nice solution!

  12. dude living like that is a dream. I really don't like doing crazy things, I'm afraid of almost anything, but that's just me, I only want to live longer.

  13. Ah. I'm 18 and I'd rather sit at home than go out with friends. I don't even know...

  16. Also 23, and it sounds pretty familiar. Me and the girlfriend have the same thing. Exam-stress, paper-stress etc. At some point it's impossible to perform well at uni and keep partying; you just need to do it in bursts ;)
